For my trip with Tim this year we:
Flew to Los Angeles, then to Munich and finally reached Budapest (with a side trip to Slovakia)…
Took the train to Vienna (with a side trip to Salzburg for all things "Sound of Music")…
Took the train to Prague...
Flew through Paris to Luxembourg...
Took the train to Ghent, Belgium...
Took the train (barely, there was a rail strike) to Amsterdam...
Took the train to The Hague...
and finally flew home through Munich and San Francisco to Honolulu!
